
Pakistan captain Abbas Afridi put in a brilliant performance in the 2025 Hong Kong Sixes, scoring six straight goals in an over to lead his team to a thrilling win over Kuwait on Friday.
Chasing Kuwait’s total of 123, Pakistan reached the target off the final delivery to seal a four-wicket win at 124. Afridi remained unbeaten with 55 off just 12 balls, hitting eight maximums in the total, along with six sixes in the over.
Shahid Aziz provided invaluable support, scoring 23 off just five balls to help seal the win.
Earlier, Kuwait started strongly in the first over, with Adnan Idris hitting 17 off eight balls, including two sixes. Afridi scored in the second half to dismiss Idris and reduce Kuwait to 23-1.
Bilal Tahir responded with successive sixes to take the score to 35-1.
The third went to Mohammad Shahzad for 31 runs as Meet Bhavsar continued his aggressive innings, pushing Kuwait past 50 to 66-1.
Abdul Samad conceded 22 in the fourth over, while Bavsar smashed three sixes and a four to take Kuwait to 88-1.
Moaz Sadaqat then claimed Bilal Tahir scored 24 off six balls, and Usman Patel joined Bavsar to take Kuwait past 100 with a six and a single four in the fifth over.
Afridi bowled the final over, conceding 39 runs, including two sixes and a four from Usman Patel.
